If you have one of those “mistakes” or would like to erase some bad memories, tattoo removal is a great option. Our experienced and trained providers use the best and safest practices for laser tattoo removal.

Laser tattoo removal is a procedure that may take a few sessions to remove an unwanted tattoo. There are other options for surgical removal and dermabrasion, but laser tattoo removal is most successful depending on the specific tattoo and your skin pigment. Some colored ink particles are harder to remove. Purple and green are nearly impossible to erase.

When you get a tattoo, the ink particles are are placed beneath the top layer of the skin with permanent intentions. Removing tattoos can be complicated and more involved than getting the tattoo in the first place.

Time For a Change?

There are several reasons to remove a tattoo that you regret or are unhappy with the appearance of it. It could have been applied incorrectly and now it has blurred or faded, shotty craftsmanship from the tattoo artist or you have developed an allergic reaction to the tattoo ink itself.

DO NOT attempt tattoo removal on your own. This could lead to skin irritation, infection and worse. Tattoo removal creams and other methods should be discussed with your dermatologist. When you are ready to check out your options, contact High Valley to schedule an appointment.

Tattoo Removal Process

Before laser treatments, the area of the skin is usually numbed with local anesthetic and then the laser is applied to the tattoo to heat and break the tattoo pigments apart. Different colored tattoos may need treatment with a variety of lasers and different wavelengths.

After going through a session of the laser tattoo removal procedure, you may experience some swelling. Blistering and bleeding are also possible side effects. We would then recommend some antibacterial ointments to promote the healing process. These sessions for tattoo removal may need to be repeated and may not completely remove the tattoo. There may be some skin discoloration or possible scarring.

Tattoos are meant to be permanent, and complete tattoo removal is difficult. Some degree of scarring or skin color variation in the tattoo area is likely to remain, regardless of the specific method of tattoo removal.
