Viagra May Boost Risk of Deadly Skin Cancer, Study Finds

Researchers found that men who took Viagra were 84% more likely to develop melanoma when compared to those who did not take the drug.

Dr. Abrar Qureshi, professor and chair of the dermatology department in the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, said because this was an early study no one is saying to stop taking Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction but those who are taking it may consider seeing their primary care provider regularly due to the increased risk of developing melanoma.
Viagra may increase the risk of melanoma because it affects the same genetic pathway that allows skin cancer to become more invasive. Viagra did not increase the risk of less-dangerous skin cancers such as basal cell or squamous cell cancers.
