      Skin Resurfacing- non-ablative

      Icon Laser™ has a fractional non-ablative skin resurfacing treatment option. This is recommended for the treatment of melasma, wrinkles, fine lines, textural irregularities and scars. Difference between Ablative and non-ablative resurfacing

      • Ablative lasers remove the top layer of skin causing patient to need 2 weeks or more of recovery time. Dramatic results are seen after one treatment.

      • Non-ablative lasers work by heating up the underlying skin tissue (without harming the surface) so that your body will produce new collagen. Typically no down time is needed following a non-ablative treatment. Multiple treatments are recommended for desired results

          How Does it Work?

          Stretch marks form because skin has been overstretched, but the reason they stay is due to a breakdown in collagen. What stretch marks need is new tissue. In this procedure, fractional laser light pulses through the skin to break down stretch marks. It also triggers new tissue production. The new collagen leaves the stretch mark smoother in texture and reduces its appearance on the skin.

          • Numbing medication is applied 1 hour prior to treatment to help reduce discomfort during procedure.

          • 3-6+ treatments 1 month apart are recommended for optimal results

          • No sun exposure is recommended 2 weeks prior to and 4 weeks following the procedure.
