Babies Need Serious Sun Protection

According to a review of new insights by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), too much time in the sun may be especially harmful for babies. The article goes on to state that baby and toddler skin differs considerably from the skin of older children and adults, and emphasizes the importance of protecting the infants from early on, by the use of sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, or by avoiding the sun directly.
Thee AAP’s current recommendation is to apply gentler and moisturizing sunscreen to babies six months and older, but also stated that “there’s probably no harm in putting sunscreen on a younger child, after the first few weeks.”
